with every bite

not quite as expected

but exactly as I imagined it

theyre still playing

    the same radio station

as they used to

      three restaurants ago

what more could you want

  a sunny seat on saint-laurent

the day after a long awaited pay day

in the middle of the afternoon

      in the middle of a

         mid winter February thaw

taking myself out on a lunch date

squeezing in between delicious bites

like each kiss I do not miss

no loose ends, no lonely night

giving what love Id put into a kiss, I give

and receive love with every bite!

Park Bench of Memories

Park Bench of Memories

Boy, do I ever miss

          Sitting on a park bench

                    On the edge of winter

                             And writing poetry

          While the leaves fall

The smell of burning

          Leaves and wood

                    Like restaurant grills

                             Seem so much more

                                       Significant in contrast

          I miss dead friends

And ex-lovers at times like these

                             But humanity, too

                                       Must shed its leaves

But it leaves me with a sense

                             Of excitement

                                       Of the upcoming crunchy snow

                                                Insulating the ground

                             Walking steps then make

                                       A new sound

                                                While I have found

                                                          Myself alone

                                       Yet in love with life

                                                My immortal wife

Which has held me through past strife

                             As I sit, reminiscing

                                       Beneath these trees

                                                On this, my favourite,

                                                         Park bench of memories.

October 2005 - Inspired Poem

October 2005 - inspired poem

144 bus west work-ward

1.

particles of water

like waves

pass through

the glass-like

pavement

while

autumn leaves

yellow and green

brilliant in contrast

2.

concentric

concrete

waves

goodbye

to the puddles

escaping

from

the pins and

needles of

pine

3.

which came

first

be fore play

the time travellers

our mates

or dates?

4.

In between

torrential lulls,

I see gulls

conduct

themselves

well above

the puddles,

our municipal

water supply

hides inside

tubes

not wanting to get struck

by droppings,

the aqua-duct!

5. (hand-written lovely/lonely rust/lust can be read interchangeably)

flames of

lovely

cherry red

and rust

burst forth

and bust open

the green majority

of what can be seen

by looking up

at the mountain

-

delicious

sun like

optical contrast

relief

from the unanimity

& conformity

of plants to the

previous season,

and not without reason

it may still frost

here, this year
